May 17th Skal Meeting at Houmas House
Date: Sunday, May 17
Location: Houmas House
Skalleagues…
If you have not thrown away your 2020 Planner….get it out now as we officially have a real (not virtual) event for you to schedule!
Skal New Orleans will be having a properly social distancing lunch gathering called "Masks & Merlot" on Sunday, May 17 from 1 pm – 4 pm at the fabulous Houmas House & Gardens! We encourage you bring your significant other so they can enjoy this first time out-of-the-house gathering at a beautiful venue as well.
In March, Kevin Kelly followed the Governor's Declaration, closing his dining room but has been serving meals & cocktails "to go" with the option of sitting out at tables under the oaks to enjoy! With all the gorgeous weather we have had, it has been a success! When the Skal Board heard about this, and knowing that our stay at home restrictions will be lifted on May 15, they wanted all of our Skalleagues to have the opportunity to enjoy a gathering under the oaks! Hopefully the weather will be on our side but, if not, he will move us to the inside of his new Great River Road Museum (which can hold 1000 people) which will have plenty room for social distancing.
Kevin recommends wearing comfortable shoes and attire fitting to be outside. To follow the CDC guidelines, we should refrain from hand shakes and hugs (I know this will be difficult), and be aware of our social distancing. Kevin has indicated that Ascension Parish has not had even one case of the coronavirus and they do not require masks be worn in the parish. Just to be safe, we suggest everyone bring their mask just in case we have some members who may still feel vulnerable.
